The latest daily aerosol measurements
|
This image shows the current aerosol levels around the world. Aerosols are tiny particles or droplets of liquid which are suspended in the atmosphere. Natural sources of aerosols include volcanoes, fires, and dust storms. Human activities can increase aerosol levels through pollution and agricultural burning. Aerosols scatter sunlight and can reduce visibility, and may also affect global climate. The data used to create this image was obtained by the Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer (TOMS), on the Earth Probe satellite.
